A new student apartment complex is being proposed for the Gaines Street and All Saints area.  The project will include a five-story complex that’s in walking distance of Florida State University's Business School.

The school is under construction on West Gaines, near the Civic Center and the proposed apartment complex would be located on the corner of West Gaines and Railroad, near the site of the former GVO nightclub, which closed last year.

The project proposal includes a 13-foot sidewalk along Gaines street and park benches for residents to sit. It would be aimed at upperclassmen, graduate students and young professionals.

Railroad Square co-owner Adam sees the complex as a boost to the area and believes it will bring more business to the art park.

The project is being built by a Tampa-based developer called 908 group. It has also submitted plans to the city for at least three additional sites that would also be for housing. At least one of the proposals has already been pre-approved by the city.

The developer has already built several student apartment complexes in the area.
