Pro-Choice advocates in Tallahassee mark the 1st anniversary of Dobbs decision overturning Roe v Wade

Saturday, June 24 marked the 1st anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court Dobbs decision that gave states the right to decide whether or not to allow abortion. The occasion was observed in Tallahassee with a film showing at All Saints Cinema.

The movie was "Plan C," which focused on pro-choice activism. The showing was hosted by the RBG Fund, short for Rapid Benefits Group. The organization is focused on collecting signatures for a petition to place the abortion question on the Florida ballot. Fund Board Member Susan Ray thinks far more people are in favor of putting abortion rights in the state constitution than show up for protest marches and other public diplays because of fear.

"When you're at the ballot box, nobody knows what you're voting for. And I think a lot of women who don't answer polls or otherwise get involved will express their displeasure at the ballot box."

Last year, the Florida Legislature passed a 15-week abortion ban that was promptly taken to court by opponents. This year, lawmakers passed - and Governor DeSantis signed - a 6-week abortion ban. But that law is also on hold as the 15-week lawsuit remains unresolved.
