The City of Tallahassee is looking to improve its StarMetro bus service on the south side. Part of the plan is to build a transit hub in the area. The hub will replace a small park at the corner of Orange Avenue and South Meridian.

That's where the city's Chief Transit Officer Angela Baldwin was on Saturday. She said more people will use public transit if the system reflects their needs and desires.

"We're gathering feedback on the facility itself, the amenities and other route changes that need to take place in the area as well."

Baldwin expects the project to move forward steadily in the months to come.

"This summer or early fall, we plan to have another round of community engagement to get us to another phase of the design. And so by November we'll have 100% of the design and breaking ground maybe next year in 2024."
