Andrew Gillum faces questions from reporters as he leaves the federal courthouse in Tallahassee after pleading not guilty to federal charges

Attorneys on both sides of former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum's corruption trial rested their case on Thursday after the jury heard final witness testimony.

Gillum, who was the Democratic candidate for governor in 2018, is facing one count of lying to the FBI and 18 counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. His former business associate Sharon Lettman-Hicks is also on trial, facing the same charges. The two are accused of conspiring to defraud grantors and campaign donors out of nearly $250,000 meant for issue campaigns and Gillum's campaign for governor.

They pleaded not guilty soon after they were indicted last year.

Prosecutors interviewed their final witness before noon on Thursday. Gillum's attorneys called no witnesses before resting their case, while Lettman-Hicks' attorneys put three witnesses on the stand.
