The Alzheimer’s Project provides support and assistance for caregivers and those with memory disorders across the Big Bend.

An aging population means more people with Alzheimer’s and dementia. A conference to help those caring for such patients happens in Tallahassee this weekend. It’s hosted by the Alzheimer’s Project.

“It’s a conference to talk to caregivers about some of the things that they either maybe have experienced or are going to experience and give them some more resources and information,” says Alzheimer’s Project Executive Director John Trombetta. “We’re going to be at the Florida State College of Medicine on April 15. We’re going to start at 8:30 and go to about 3:30.”

Trombetta says the conference will cover “everything from the research around Alzheimer’s, an explanation about the disease and what it is and how it affects the person living with it; exercise and nutrition, how those things can help the mind and help the person living with the disease, and help the caregiver give themselves a bit of a break as they’re managing their caregiving duties.”
