Florida's ever-changing property tax exemptions can confuse even the most savvy homeowners. With a March 1st filing deadline approaching, Leon County's Property Appraiser's Office is reaching out to those who have questions or need help completing the paperwork.

Each year, it seems the Florida Legislature adds more property tax exemptions to the list. Meghan Poskey with the Leon County Property Appraiser's Office said that typically brings an increase in homeowner inquiries.

"People have questions about what property tax exemptions are, how to file, what's the deadline. So that's part of what we're trying to spread the message about today. March 1 is coming. That's the annual property tax exemption deadline and certainly we want people to reach out, call us, jump on our website: leonpa.gov to get more information."

She added there are expanded office hours for in-person questions.

"We are open Monday through Friday from 8 until 5 and Tuesdays and Thursdays until 6. And then Saturdays in February we're open 10 until noon."
