With the Tallahassee/Leon County Animal Service Center's dog kennels close to capacity, a special adoption event on Saturday, Feb. 11 aimed to relieve the overcrowding. The happening, dubbed "Pooches and Smooches," brought lots of people and pups together.
Visitors to the center's kennels found plenty of eager dogs vying for their attention.
There was also pizza and prizes, and a generally festive atmosphere, said the center's Grayson Walters.
"We try to have fun when we can. So we tried to go with a themed, fun thing to get the folks out and meet our adoptable animals. More than 100 dogs we have here for adoption, but we also have a bunny and baby guinea pigs and some cats, so lots of animals for folks to choose from."
Center staff reported multiple animal adoptions on Saturday, but said there's a good assortment of convivial canines still available and in need of good homes.
