The yearly Artisans in the Garden display at Tallahassee Nurseries created traffic jams on Thomasville Road. Fifty of the area's top artists and craftspeople were showing off and selling their creations all day on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Among those exhibitors was painter Karen Stewart whose vibrant still life renderings of fruits and vegetables nearly outshone the nearby flats of live pansies and poppies.
"I've kind of taken up plein air painting in the last 3 years and so the colors go with painting outside a little bit. I love the colors on the vegetables and the fruits. I love the 'right-out-of-the-tube' colors!" she exclaimed.
Not far away, Beth Allman had a selection of intricately woven baskets and other items made from willow branches and locally-sourced plant life.
"I work in rattan that I do dye myself and I work in English Willow. That is also a unique craft in and of itself because it's not the same kind of material."
The Capital City area will have many more art shows and sales over the next few months in advance of the year-end holidays.
