A Tallahassee man is under arrest for a shooting at his apartment complex Tuesday just before 1 p.m. Police say the suspect was upset about rental charges.

33-year-old Ernest Lawson is accused of shooting a female employee at the Blue Cascade apartment complex on Putnam Drive near South Monroe Street.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Here is more from the Tallahassee Police Department press release:

Following a swift and thorough investigation by TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit, it was determined the suspect waited for the victim to arrive at work and approached her as she exited her vehicle.

The suspect, who was upset over rental charges, produced a handgun, and shot the victim shortly after the encounter. The victim, an adult female, was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

Detectives were able to develop probable cause and subsequently arrest the suspect a short time after the shooting. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Arrested: Ernest Lawson, 33, for attempted homicide.
