Lovers of cats and art will find common ground this Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Tallahassee American Legion Hall at Tallahassee's Lake Ella. It's the annual "For Cats' Sake" event to benefit local feline rescue efforts. Michelle Hartsfield heads up the Feline Advocates of Leon County group and noted the need for its services has grown dramatically.
"All the rescue (groups) are constantly receiving requests. And if everyone can remember we do the best we can with what we have. We're not ignoring anyone; we're just trying to stay afloat and these events and supporters like this will help keep us going."
Hartsfield said the Legion Hall will be filled with tables of donated art work for silent auction action. And there are other attractions.
"(For) entertainment, we have the AccaBelles coming back from FSU and the Rhys Bennett Trio with live jazz and we have a Leon High School student who'll do live painting while she's hanging out with everyone."
The "For Cats' Sake" event goes from 4:00-7:00 p.m. this Saturday.
