Three candidates have now filed for Senate District Three.

Sen. Loranne Ausley (D-Tallahassee) has drawn another challenger for her seat in the state Senate. Records from the Florida Department of State show Corey Simon filed Monday to run against Ausley.

Corey Simon, who currently heads Volunteer Florida, is a former Florida State University football player. He has filed to run as a Republican in state Senate District Three.

Virginia Fuller is another Republican challenger who filed for the race. She’s sought a number of state offices in the past.

That sets Fuller and Simon up for a potential Republican primary. The winner will face incumbent Democrat Loranne Ausley who was elected to the Senate in 2020 after two separate stints in the House of Representatives.
