Tallahassee City Commissioner Curtis Richardson welcomes visitors to the Southside Transit Center Day happening.

A small park in South City Tallahassee will soon be turned into a transfer hub for StarMetro buses. City officials kicked off the makeover project with a community event Saturday.

There were food trucks, a DJ, and information booths promoting various city services. By this time next year, city officials like Commissioner Curtis Richardson say the little park at the corner of Orange Avenue and South Meridian will be bustling with buses, conveniently connecting neighborhood residents with the entire StarMetro route system. The final design work for the project is about one-third completed and actual construction will begin when the plans are finished.
