A Taylor County deputy has life-threatening injuries after being shot multiple times last night. The suspect is dead, according to law enforcement. More information will be released during a 2pm news conference that will be streamed live on FDLE's Facebook page.

Original story:

A Taylor County deputy has life-threatening injuries after being shot multiple times Tuesday night. It happened just south of the town of Salem.

The shooting prompted a Blue Alert. These alerts are issued when a law enforcement officer is killed or injured by a suspect who is considered a threat to the public.

Law enforcers are looking for 33-year-old Gregory Ryan Miedema. He's described as 5’ 8’, 165 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes. He's seen in police photos wearing glasses.

Miedema was last seen on US-19 near Deer Run Road in Perry. He’s believed to be in a 2000 gold Chrysler Sebring with a dark convertible top, tag Y78TKU.

FDLE says if you think you see him, please call 911.
