One of Tallahassee's most celebrated writers has died. Peggy Kassees penned many works in the paranormal/urban fantasy and Southern Gothic genres. She was a past president of the Tallahassee Writers' Association, a post later occupied by her fellow writer and good friend Bruce Ballister.

"Throughout, she created a huge following of friends who knew her as a sweet, giving and sharing person. Her morning postings from the 'Gargoyle's Eyrie' on Facebook were followed by probably thousands of people," he said, noting those daily musings often focused on the remarkable collection of wild creatures that frequented her back yard.

Kassees final posting came on Sunday, Feb. 13. Funeral arrangements are pending. Peggy Kassees was 69.
