A Gadsden County Sheriff’s Deputy is in stable condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after she was shot today near Havana. Lieutenant Anglie Holmes is with the department. She says the deputy was responding to a call about a stolen car that was heading into Gadsen County. The vehicle was seen in the Jameison road area near Havana.

“Our deputy that was covering that area, that zone, saw the vehicle and ensued it, and at some point, there was a shooting unfolded where our deputy was shot. I do not know if our deputy was able to get off a round or not," Holmes told WFSU.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating how the shooting occurred. The person accused of shooting the deputy ran into a nearby wooded area. He was arrested.
