The yearly reorganization meeting of the Leon County Commission took place Tuesday, Nov. 9. The board of commissioners voted to bestow the title of chair on its longest-serving member, Bill Proctor. The chair for the past year has been Commissioner Rick Minor.
"This year has reminded me that the things we are most proud of, the things that the commission I think achieved the most good for the people who live here is when we work together as a team," he mused before he and his colleagues voted on a successor to assume the mostly ceremonial post.
The commission's new Chair, Bill Proctor, wants to continue that, especially when it comes to making use of the new federal infrastructure dollars.
"A team approach, organized to identify and go after funding for broadband services for more of our geographic community."
Proctor is the commission's senior member, first elected to serve in 1996.
