The increase in local COVID-19 infections has increased the number of area residents in cemeteries and funerary urns.

While the surge in COVID deaths has been overwhelming funeral homes in some parts of Florida, Tallahassee's funeral homes seem to be handling the increased local demand.
Jackie Fulford with the Strong-Fulford Funeral Home and Crematory is among those seeing a big rise in business.

"While we are seeing a significant increase in the number of families that we're serving with COVID deaths, we're able to handle it. We're able to assist each family that we're contacted by and help them through the process. We're not turning anyone away," she insisted.

Freddie Adams with Culley's Funeral Home is also seeing the surge.

"It's definitely picked up in the last month or so with just funerals in general. Fortunately, our staff is large enough that we don't have to delay families. Even within a week, we are most likely to accommodate those families."

The Strong-Jones and Bevis funeral homes reported similar situations at their places of business.
