Leon County Superintendent Rocky Hanna says he did not hear back from Gov. Ron DeSantis about his request for local districts to have flexibility regarding mask mandates.

So Hanna has announced a decision Monday morning via Facebook Live.

"I am going to require masks to be worn by all students Pre-K through 8th starting on Wednesday unless otherwise noted by a physician or a psychologist.”

Hanna chose those grades because they include students too young to be vaccinated.

He says he will re-evaluate the mask mandate around Labor Day.
