Tallahassee Community College is hosting its first commencement ceremony since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The event will celebrate graduates of the college's adult education program.

The program has two tracks. One is to help people get their GED, while the other aims to strengthen people's English-speaking skills. TCC's Kim Moore encourages graduates of both tracks to attend the ceremony.

"We want to celebrate their accomplishments and realiz[e] that it's opening the door for so many other opportunities for them to pursue," Moore says.

Moore says some of the program graduates are planning to get a degree from TCC. She says the ceremony will be a milestone for not only the event attendees but also the college.

"We have been challenged, but we have collectively been successful at meeting their needs as well as accomplishing what we are committed to at the college, and that's serving our community," Moore says.

The ceremony will take place today at 6 p.m. inside TCC's Student Union Ballroom.
