Four Tallahassee police officers were promoted during City Hall ceremonies on Monday, June 21. Two of those promotions were to the newly-restored rank of "captain."

The City Hall Commission Chambers were filled with family, friends and fellow officers as the announcement came:

"Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, please extend your congratulations to our newest police lieutenants and captains at the Tallahassee Police Department."

Those new lieutenants were Calvin Bedenbaugh and Ginny Osbourn. Ascending to captain, a rank that had been dormant for years at TPD, was Vincent Boccio and Danielle Davis.

"I'm going to continue working on recruiting and trying to get people on board to fill vacancies," Davis remarked after the ceremony. "That's still a huge priority with me. Making those community contacts and trying to open up communication so we can tackle crime here in Tallahassee."

At the moment, the Tallahassee Police Department has 395 sworn officers and 177 civilians on staff.
