Very few new businesses tried to get going as the pandemic raged this past fall. But one small Tallahassee shop that opened back in October has survived to see a steady stream of customers for both of its products.
The store is the Fat Cat Book Store in Railroad Square. Peyton Corbin has worked there since its October opening.
"The amount of people who walk in the door and say their two favorite things are cats and books astounds me," she smiled.
And the Fat Cat Book Store traffics in both commodities. It sells used books and customers also interact with the friendly felines who are available for adoption.
"We'll have two weeks of no adoptions and then suddenly everyone wants a cat. But it's been going great. With senior cats it's harder to get them adopted, but we're just doing good right now."
Corbin credited the nicer weather, as well as the pandemic seeming now to be in retreat.
