Deputies are investigating the case on Aenon Church Road on the west side.

News release from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office:

On October 2, 2020, at approximately 7:41 P.M., the Leon County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service regarding a possible hostage situation at a residence in the 2000 block of Aenon Church Road in western Leon County.

Deputies arrived at another location nearby and made contact with the complainant who stated an armed white male broke into his home and was holding someone hostage. Deputies responded to the incident location and upon making contact with two subjects in the driveway of the residence, the suspect turned and opened fire on the deputies. Deputies then returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect.

There were no other injuries during the incident. This incident is believed to be isolated and not random. This investigation remains active at this time.

As with LCSO protocol, with any officer involved shooting, the deputies involved are being placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation is conducted.
