About half of Leon County public school students returned to campuses this week, while the rest chose remote learning.
Now, the district has confirmed six cases of COVID-19: four students and two staff members.
Speaking on Facebook Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Rocky Hanna said this was expected and the district is managing it.
“We’re going to create a dashboard that will roll out on Monday that will be by school” to see where students or employees have tested positive, Hanna said.
So far, the district says schools with COVID cases include Ft. Braden Elementary, Montford Middle, Chiles High, and Rickards High.
Hanna says the Leon County Health Department is helping with contract tracing and notifying individuals who may need to quarantine.
“We’re sending out ListServ messages to schools and school communities when employees and students have tested positive,” Hanna said. “This was to be expected.”
