Leon County Commissioner Jimbo Jackson has tested positive for COVID-19. He is the first local elected official to announce catching the virus.
In an email sent out by the county, Commissioner Jackson says his coronavirus symptoms have been mild, and he hasn’t needed hospitalization. He wants residents to take the virus seriously, saying that it can be debilitating to some. More than 50 residents in Tallahassee have been hospitalized due to COVID-19. Eight people have died.
