Tallahassee's Parade of Homes will be held online during its traditional May dates. People can take a virtual tour of each home. That includes videos and pictures.

The Tallahassee Builders Association will host an online Parade of Homes on its website and Facebook page. Dates for the event are May 9 and 10, as well as May 16 and 17.

"We will have a short video for each home, introducing the home, welcoming our clients to the Parade of Homes, giving you a little biography on the builder and the home itself, and then there will be a series of photos all throughout the house and a link to the builder's website so you can see more information," the Association's President Brian Will says.

He explains that there will be at least 18 homes to tour virtually in May. His group is also planning to host a physical parade of homes in June. The dates scheduled for it are June 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th. The dates are tentative and depend on changes to stay-at-home orders and social distancing measures.

"People look forward to the Parade of Homes every year. It's one of the reasons we do it on Mother's Day, that's always the opening weekend because it's an exciting thing to do, because if mom wants to go see some new houses, the whole family goes to see some new houses."

When the in-person Parade of Homes does occur, it will likely look different from last year and include limits on the number of people inside a home at one time.

"There may not be some of the same homes that may be available in May because they sold and closed and won't be available in June, but there will also be some homes that wouldn't have been ready in time for the May parade that will be in the June Parade. So we're really having two parades," Will says.

People will also be able to ask questions online and email builders to get more information.
