Matlow: City, County Officials To Identify More Local Aid For Utility Relief, Nonprofits

Commissioner Jeremy Matlow

Tallahassee’s City Commission is directing the city manager to coordinate with Leon County’s administrator, in an effort to identify more local stimulus money. As of this week, $1 million in small business aid has already been distributed.

Ryan Dailey spoke with Commissioner Jeremy Matlow, who’s been among those pushing for more local dollars going to the community.

0:26 - Matlow: a local relief effort proposed was this week, designed to move quickly. City manager and county administrator are looking to identify local money for grants for two purposes – utility relief for individuals and help for nonprofits

1:51 - Matlow: The City and County could split the cost – or it’s possible the money could come from the Office of Economic Vitality, out of money collected from penny sales tax

2:55 - Matlow: Providing additional local aid now, potentially from OEV money, takes precedent over projects that money may have otherwise been slated for

3:32 – Matlow: What to expect from next week’s Blueprint 2000 meeting
