From Protein Strands to Germ-Free Hands: QuarryBio Making Sanitizer in Bulk

A few Tallahassee brewers and distillers have begun making hand sanitizer for individual consumers. But a local bio-tech startup has started producing the product on an industrial scale.

QuarryBio Founder Eric Graben said it wasn't much of a jump for his operation to go from analyzing protein clusters to producing alcohol-based sanitizer.

"Hand sanitizer seemed to be something that was readily available to us. We realized we had all the materials, equipment and facilities and everything else we needed to make this on a fairly large scale."

Graben isn't interested in the individual conumer market for his product.

"What we're trying to do is to make much larger sized containers - like one gallon or more - to give to the organizations so they can use that to top off the small containers that the individual uses working for them."

Area businesses and non-profits can contact QuarryBio direct to find out more.
