The Tally Mac Shack got a shout out this week from Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. Rubio declared the comfort-food crafters as the U.S. Small Businesses of the week. The business has grown since its creation in 2017. It’s now got multiple locations and about 30 employees in the city.

“Tally Mac Shack has emphasized community service since its inception," Rubio said in a video. "Partnering with local agencies and organizations including hurricane Michael relief, the Down Syndrome Association of Florida, the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Center, and the Kearney Center for the Homeless.”

Rubio chairs the Senate’s Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

"“I cannot thank Senator Rubio enough for this unexpected recognition,” Cruz said. “It has been our philosophy since day one to get involved with our community, and our continued success comes from our determination to get involved at multiple levels. More than just donating money, we are focused on being present by participating and attending community events," Tally Mac Shack owner Justo Cruz said in a statement.

“From supporting other local businesses through product collaborations to developing programs to help young entrepreneurs pursue their dreams, we are grateful for the chance to use our platform to help others grow and succeed with us.”
