Probably the best-known lawyer in Florida shared some tough talk with the Capital Tiger Bay Club on Wednesday, August 28. John Morgan pulled no punches, whether it came to his support for recreational marijuana, or his contempt for Tallahassee’s former mayor.
John Morgan and his personal injury law firm kicked in millions to help Andrew Gillum’s Democratic campaign for Florida governor last year.
“One of the reasons I’m so upset with Andrew Gillum is because he took our money and never used it,” Morgan groused during his speech.
After losing the race to Ron DeSantis, Gillum revealed he still had millions left over that he would now use for a voter registration campaign, the reality of which Morgan questioned during his talk. But Morgan has a campaign of his own. After successfully spearheading a move to legalize medical marijuana in Florida, he has a new crusade.
“I believe now is the time for recreational marijuana. People have been put in jail for no good reason; the people of color and poor people are the ones who’ve really suffered.”
Morgan also shared his personal faith philosophy and had some less than complimentary remarks regarding President Trump.
