Florida A&M University’s Board of Trustees says President Larry Robinson is meeting or exceeding expectations. That, according to the board’s latest review of the president’s performance.
The evaluation covers the July 2018-June 2019 fiscal year and comes amid some discord in the campus community over messaging, money and program management. The school was hammered over its handling of sexual assaults and harassment claims. The athletics department was slapped with NCAA penalties over ineligible players, and the president recently disclosed that millions of dollars had been improperly transferred to the department.
A group calling itself Concerned Alumni of FAMU has created a petition on change.org calling for Robinson to step down and a national search for a replacement be held. The petition has 275 signatures as of Friday morning.
Meanwhile, the blog site Rattler Nation reports the school’s money for a state marijuana awareness campaign has been frozen because it’s not in compliance with the legislature’s intent.
A spokesman for the school says these issues are not indicative of FAMU’s overall direction, and trustees, in evaluating Robinson’s performance, say he exceeds their expectations in the areas of relationships, values and leadership.
