Tallahassee Issues Inaugural Traffic Advisory

The City of Tallahassee has issued a traffic advisory for Monday and Tuesday, as Inauguration events for Governor-Elect Ron DeSantis get underway. Several downtown roads will be shut down.

On Monday, only residents of Los Robles will be able to enter the neighborhood between noon and 4 p.m. Most of those streets will be largely inaccessible due to an event with incoming first lady Casey DeSantis.

On Tuesday Wahnish Way will be mostly shut down between 6 and 9:30 a.m. due to the Inaugural Prayer Breakfast

From 6:30 – 8 a.m. One southbound lane of Monroe Street will be closed from Jefferson to Madison Street 

Between  8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m, during the swearing-in ceremony, most downtown streets, including Monroe, part of Apalachee Parkway, Jefferson, Madison and Duvial will be closed to motorists.

Below is a full list of the closures, via the City of Tallahassee.

Friday, Jan. 4
2 – 10 p.m.

  • One southbound lane of Monroe Street will be closed from Jefferson Street to Madison Street.

Monday, Jan. 7
12 – 4 p.m.

  • Traffic on the following roads will be restricted to residents only in the Los Robles neighborhood: Fernando Drive, Cortez Street, Isabell Court and Desoto Street.

Tuesday, Jan. 8
6:15 – 9:30 a.m.

  • Wahnish Way will be closed from Bob Hayes Way to Osceola Street.
  • Okaloosa Street will be closed from Perry Street to Wahnish Way.

6:30 – 8 a.m.

  • One southbound lane of Monroe Street will be closed from Jefferson Street to Madison Street.

8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  • Monroe Street will be closed from Gaines Street to College Avenue.
  • Apalachee Parkway will be closed from Franklin Boulevard to Monroe Street.
  • Jefferson Street will be closed from Adams Street to Monroe Street.
  • One lane of Madison Street will be closed from Bronough Street to Monroe Street.
  • One lane of Duval Street will be closed from Madison Street to College Avenue.

4 – 11 p.m.

  • Madison Street will be closed from Railroad Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed from Gaines Street to Jefferson Street.
  • Monroe Street will be closed from Gaines Street to College Avenue.
  • Apalachee Parkway will be closed from Franklin Boulevard to Monroe Street.
  • Jefferson Street will be closed from Adams Street to Monroe Street.
  • One lane of Madison Street will be closed from Bronough Street to Monroe Street.
  • One lane of Duval Street will be closed from Madison Street to College Avenue.
