Tallahassee Commissioners heard pros and cons for locations for the new public safety complex Wednesday. The plan is to creating a building that will better support the Tallahassee Police Department’s community policing efforts. The public safety complex will include meeting space and a basketball court in an effort to give the public positive reasons to visit the police station. And Assistant City Manager Cynthia Barber as another bonus the project is also likely to attract more businesses to the Southside, as 600 employees come to the area.
“Support for groceries, prescriptions, gas for your vehicle and eventually housing considerations for people who may have to travel further to get to work now,” Barber says.
During their Wednesday meeting commissioners voted in favor of a plan to purchase a shopping center on South Monroe Street for the new location.
