A wild fire burning about 4-miles southwest of Tallahassee is about 60-percent contained. Regan McCarthy reports Florida Forest Service officials are warning motorists to use caution when driving in smoky areas.
As of Wednesday afternoon, officials said most of the smoke impact from the fire would be seen in northern Wakulla County. Officials say drivers on Bloxham Cutoff Road, Springhill Highway and Crawfordville Highway could experience limited visibility. Chandra Roberts is a public information for the Florida Forest Service. She says there’s no immediate danger to any surrounding homes.
“No personal life or property is a threat at this time. The fire is contained in the Clear Lake Wilderness area so there are no nearby residences,” Roberts says.
Officials estimate they’ll be able to put the blaze out by Sunday. They say fire is manmade. An investigation into the details of that is underway.
