Leon County's public library system is celebrating Black History Month with a number of events. On Sunday, Feb. 11, the main downtown library hosted a happening that combined reading and discussion.
Florida A&M University Philosophy Professor Dr. Michael LaBossiere was one of the celebrity readers for the occasion. After each reading of an outstanding work by an African-American author, Library Director Cay Hohmeister said there was spirited discussion.
"We wanted to hear what our readers had to say about things," she remarked. "And we also have a couple of people reading, so we're combining the two things."
All 7 Leon County Public Library locations will have special displays and other resources available throughout February in honor of Black History Month.
