Florida’s public university governing board has put its stamp of approval on Florida A&M University’s newest president. Larry Robinson was able to drop “interim” from his title in late November when the school’s trustees decided to name him to helm the school permanently.

The Florida Board of Governors allowed FAMU to forgo a national presidential search last year—a move that allowed it to stick close to home, and it did, naming Larry Robinson as its 12th president in November. Robinson has been at FAMU for more than a decade, at times serving as a provost, and three different stints as interim university president. Robinson thanked the board for its support:

“I commit to building upon building upon the positive relationship we’ve developed during my tenures, plural, as interim president of the university,” he said, referencing his multiple stints at the job.

Robinson was the overwhelming favorite for the job and Thursday the Board of Governors confirmed it with a unanimous vote in his favor.
