Tallahassee's Figg Engineering has designed many of the nation's most remarkable bridges. That's why the woman who wrote a groundbreaking book about bridges two decades ago is in Tallahassee to promote the latest version of that work.
Judith Dupre loves bridges!
Which is why she also loves Florida's Capital City.
"Tallahassee is certainly headquarters for some of the great bridges in this country," she remarked during her first local book signing at Hearth and Soul Wednesday (12/6) evening. "I LOVE coming to Tallahasse!"
Twenty years after its first writing, Dupre has updated her groundbreaking book, "Bridges: A History of the World's Most Spectacular Spans."
"It begins with an incredibly profound interview with Linda Figg (Owner of Figg Engineering Group) and ends with the great Zaha Hadid. And right in the middle is Avery Bang, a young woman from Colorado whose goal is to build 100 foot bridges every year in developing nations where sometimes a footbridge means the difference between life and death."
Dupre will speak and sign copies of her book at midday on Thursday, Dec. 7 in Tallahassee's Challenger Learning Center.
