The new Care Point Health and Wellness Center run by Big Bend Cares received a formal ribbon cutting on Thursday, 10/26. The facility is set to serve everyone, including the uninsured.
Spokeswoman Michelle Bono was giving a media tour of the 27,000 square foot facility in advance of the ceremony. Inside the center at the corner of South Monroe Street and Magnolia Drive are 10 examination rooms, x-ray and dental suites, even a pharmacy. Bono said no patient will be turned away when the facility opens to the general public on December 1st.
"We will accept all insurances from Capital Health Plan to Blue Cross to Medicaid to Medicare and even people without insurance," she said, adding the center will tap a range of community resources.
"We're partnering with TMH (Tallahassee Memorial Hospital) Family Practice, Bond Community Health Center, the FSU College of Medicine and then we'll have doctors who will be providing care here."
Also offered will be mental health services through the Apalachee Center. A public open house for the Care Point Health and Wellness Center will take place Saturday, November 4 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
