KCCI Launches Campaign to Connect Students & Community

Tom Flanigan

Tallahassee's Knight Creative Communities Institute is marking its tenth anniversary. The upcoming year's initiative will be tackling an ambitious project as part of the celebration.

KCCI Executive Director Betsy Couch made the big reveal Thursday night (9/21) at Midtown's Fifth and Thomas pub.

"We're announcing our 2018 Community Catalyst project, which is going to focus on university and community connectivity," she explained.

Couch said a new group of community catalysts would be tasked with forging a tighter bond between town and gown.

"We'll look at all the exciting things that are already happening in town that connect university students to the community and they'll look at how we can pull everybody together; how can we be the catalyst to make a collective effort to better connect our university students with Tallahassee."

And perhaps, Couch added, persuade more of them to put their hard-won academic skills to work serving the community where they went to school.
