Leon County officials have repealed a curfew put in place to keep motorists safe before and after Hurricane Irma.

Following the 7 a.m. lift of the curfew Tuesday morning officials announced they wouldn’t put it back in place at night. County Administrator Vince Long explains the curfew was intended to protect residents and make way for first responders.

We don’t want to have the curfew in place if we don’t need it, but we also don’t want to send people traveling freely through out roads if they’re not safe,” Long says.

Officials reported about 20 road closures following the storm. A Tuesday update from the County shows several roads remain closed due to downed trees.
