Gillum Says U.S. Attorney Weighing FBI Probe

A sweeping FBI investigation of city-backed land deals involving a handful of Tallahassee officials and local developers appears to be at a turning point.

Adam Corey, a local businessman and former campaign treasurer for Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, is dropping a slew of lobbying clients months after receiving an FBI subpoena.

At the same time, Gillum is demanding the feds announce a resolution to end what Gillum is calling a distraction for the city and a drag on his campaign.

“I’d love, for the U.S. attorney, who I believe this is in the hands of now, to be able to say I am not in any way a target in their investigation, and never was. I think that’s a statement best delivered from them. I know that that was what was communicated to me.”

An FBI spokeswoman declined to comment Wednesday and Gillum said he could not provide any additional details.
