Nine Florida properties are now part of the National Register of Historic Places. Secretary of State Ken Detzner says the properties, which are spread throughout the state, encompass Florida’s diverse architecture and “cultural heritage.”

Two of the newly added properties are located in the Tallahassee area: the Tallahassee Fire Station No.2 and Bo Lynn’s Grocery. Bo Lynn’s Grocery in St. Marks was built in 1936. The Fire Station is near North Adams Street and was built in 1951.

According to the Florida Division of Historical Resources, listing a property with the national register does not limit the property owner. Instead, it encourages historic preservation. These include giving the property “historic significance” and by making it eligible for monetary incentives to preserve the site.
