Fla. Prison Remains Locked Down, After 'Major Disturbance' Causes Staff, Inmate Injuries

MGN Online

The Gulf Correctional Institution Annex is still under lockdown, after what’s being classified as a “major disturbance” occurred at the facility early Wednesday morning.

After the incident, seven correctional officers and one inmate were injured, though a Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman says they were non-life threatening. They have all received medical treatment.

It appears more than one inmate was involved in the incident, since several were placed in confinement pending disciplinary review.

Spokeswoman Michelle Glady says the incident was resolved in 30 minutes, and an investigation is underway.
