Tallahassee City Commissioners will continue their budget talks in a workshop Wednesday. Officials started discussions during a meeting last month. Commissioner Scott Maddox says he’s glad to see the process kicking off early.
“This process is much more transparent. Having the initial meetings leading up lets us know what our possible liabilities are and what our possible income streams are,” Maddox says.
The city’s revenue projections will be impacted by the commission’s decision last year to reduce the property tax rate and cut the local business tax. Officials are also looking ahead to see how a potential homestead tax change could impact their budgets in the future.
