Tech Training Partnership Launched

Tallahassee Tech-Hire Initiative

Tallahassee has a new partnership to bring more workers into well-paying high-tech jobs. The newly launched I/O Avenue Code Academy will involve Florida A&M University, DOMI Station and the Mayor’s Office.

“I/O” of course is computer-speak for “Input/Output”. I/O Avenue Code Academy is a part of Tallahassee’s Tech-Hire Initiative to quickly train workers for the growing number of well-paying tech jobs that are moving into North Florida. Starting this fall, the computer labs at FAMU’s Workforce Computing Center will host between 12 and 18 students in 12-week long part-time courses. Those courses will serve not only experienced technical workers but also students from economically challenged communities with no prior tech background. A new website: www.ioavenue.com has more information about the program.
