Wakulla County leaders are applauding more than $6 million worth of local projects in this year’s budget.  But the governor hasn’t begun vetoing provisions.

The lion’s share of the local spending—$5.4 million in all—comes in the form of road projects.  The biggest ticket items are $2.4 million for new lanes on US 319 and slightly more than $1 million to resurface CR 375 near Sopchoppy.

The remainder of funds will help the county begin replacing the first responder radio system and building a new fire and ems station.  The legislature approved roughly half a million dollars for each.

All the appropriations are contingent on Governor Scott’s approval—he could still veto any one of the projects or the budget as a whole.
