Florida A&M University has demoted yet another dean: the head of the FAMU College of Law. The removal of Angela Epps marks the fourth demotion FAMU leaders have made in a week. LeRoy Pernell, who formerly served as dean until 2015, has been named interim law school dean.

Provost Rodner Wright has also demoted the deans of the school of journalism, colleges of journalism, pharmacy and education. A university spokeswoman refused to explain why the deans have been demoted, but all appear to have been struggling in their positions.

The removal of Angela Epps at the law school follows dismal performance on the latest bar exam, with 46 percent of students passing on the first try. Pharmacy Dean Michael Thompson was removed after the school ranked among the worst in the nation for passage rates on the pharmacy exam.

Ann Kimbrough was demoted as concerns mount regarding the school’s re-accreditation.

A university spokeswoman says she doesn't know whether more demotions are forthcoming.
