Good nutrition is an important contributor to heart health. That connection was front and center at Saturday's "Heart To Heart" wellness fair at Tallahassee's Premier Health and Fitness Center.
Among the hundreds who showed up, local fitness advocate Mark Mahoney.
"We started with the walk this morning with Move Tallahassee," Mahoney said. "(It) was quite well attended. We did about 3.2 miles."
Inside Premier's big gym, were experts on healthier living, like the Florida Department of Health's WIC Program Nutrition Educator Bethany Millette.
"The main message we constantly feed is that the closer you eat to the ground, the closer you can be to whole foods, the better things generally are for you," she pointed out as a steady stream of people stopped by the WIC Program table.
Premier's David Wheeler said it was a bit like a one-stop-wellness shop.
"You can ask a dietician, ask a pharmacist, ask a physical therapist, learn about commuter and respiratory services."
The event wrapped up with CPR training provided by Leon County EMS.
