The first court appearance for Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor’s son is being delayed to give psychologists more time to complete a mental health evaluation.
Twenty-one-year-old Jordan Proctor faces armed robbery and forgery charges in connection with a hold up last week at SunTrust Bank on South Monroe Street.
Jordan Proctor was already on conditional release in connection with the 2014 armed robbery of a pizza delivery man. Defense attorney Mutaqee Akbar says his client has autism and is not a threat when he takes his medication.
“Right now, we’re pleading not guilty. We’re still looking into it. All we have are the police affidavits. Obviously, there are some mental health issues there, so we are definitely going to be looking into that side as well.”
Commissioner Bill Proctor released a statement saying he will never stop loving his son, even though they took, quote, “different paths through life.”
