A Florida Panhandle lawmaker is the new vice chair on the Senate panel looking at military issues. Sen. Doug Broxson (R-Gulf Breeze)—a former House member—now sits on the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs, Space, and Domestic Security committee.
“The Panhandle has a tremendous investment in being friendly to our military partners,” said Broxson. “In my three counties, 67 percent of the economy is driven by the military presence. In Santa Rosa, it’s almost a third, and in Escambia, it’s almost a third.”
Among the issues the committee is slated to take up in 2017 include an update on how Florida veterans are receiving their healthcare and if there are have been any improvements in terms of wait times for their care.
