City Commissioner Scott Maddox has been sworn back into office following a legal fight over his residency. Tuesday's ceremony follows a decision but the First District Court of Appeal to lift a stay on Maddox taking his oath. The stay was put in place pending the outcome of a residency challenge. A judge ruled Monday Maddox lives inside city lines.

The lawsuit was filed by city businessman Erwin Jackson who signaled Tuesday he  would not appeal the ruling. Maddox took a dig at Jackson shortly after taking his oath of office.

“Some people say if you have a lot of money and bad intentions, you can keep people from doing good work. Well, that may be so. But I am living proof, I’m an example, a symbol, that that is not so in Tallahassee, Florida," he said.

A separate legal case over residency between Jackson and the City of Tallahassee is still before the Florida Supreme Court.
